Tony La Russa's Animal Rescue Foundation understands the importance of choosing the right pet for your family, and provides a friendly, customer-oriented adoption process.
View available dogs and cats online or visit us during open hours, no appointment necessary! Adoption hours are Wednesday through Sunday, 12* to 6** pm, and business hours are Monday through Friday 9 am to 5 pm.
Our available animal listings on our website are updated daily. Adoption updates may also be found on Twitter at @ARFadoptions. Availability of particular animals cannot be guaranteed, and we do not place animals on hold.

**Finding the right match takes time. Since the adoption process can take 60-90 minutes, we are unable to begin new adoptions past 5:30 pm. Thank you for your understanding.
What's Included
All animals are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped, de-wormed, and given flea/tick preventative.
Dogs 6 months and older are tested for heartworm, and all dogs are started on heartworm preventative. Dog adopters are offered a discount on training classes and puppy socials with ARF's skilled instructors.
All cats are tested for FeLV, and all cats older than 6 months are tested for FIV.
Not sure which animal might be the perfect match?
We want to help you find the right pet for your family and lifestyle. Potential adopters are able to meet up to three available dogs or three cat condos during the adoption process. Since this process can take time, 60-90 minutes, we are unable to accommodate multiple meet and greets for new adoptions beginning at 30 minutes before closing. Adopters who arrive at 5:30 will be able to meet with one animal.
Policies and Requirements
Adopters must be 18 or older with valid ID.
Adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. We adopt to the first good match and cannot place animals on hold.
You must be able to meet the animal in person at our headquarters in Walnut Creek, California. If you cannot travel to our campus, we encourage you to contact a local shelter or rescue to adopt an animal who needs a home.
For the safety of the animal when leaving our adoption lobby, adopted cats must be in carriers and dogs must be on leash. All supplies are available for purchase at the Lou Russa Boutique, convieniently located in our adoption lobby. To protect ARF's volunteers, staff, and adopters, ARF is following recommended safety measures as directed by Contra Costa County.
